Hotel Review Wild Palms Hotel

At first glance online, the Wild Palms Hotel, another Hyatt Partner, seems like a kitschy oasis in Sunnyvale, CA, but in person it was an entirely different animal. This stay was prior to our Globalist status, but I doubt that matters as I don’t think this hotel (or more accurately, motel) had any upgrades to offer.

We entered our first room to find an overbearing smell of cigarette smoke, despite it being a non-smoking room. The oder was so overpowering that we ended up going to reception and requesting a new room. The second room still had a faint smell of cigarettes, but was bearable.

I’m not going to lie. The rooms sucked. They are not somewhere I would want to hang out in, but they get the job done if you’re just there to sleep. The pool somehow made up for the rooms though. It was clean, private, and beautiful. The Sunnyvale location gave us a lot to do in the Bay area, but there isn't too much going on in Sunnyvale itself.

If there was any breakfast offered at the hotel, that's news to us, but there are several coffee shops nearby.

We spent our days drinking wine in Napa, exploring the Winchester House in San Jose, and even took a quick trip to San Francisco.

Would we stay again? Surprising myself with this one, but maybe! It met our needs for the weekend, and I wouldn’t mind relaxing by that pool again.
